Microwave repair in London
Built-in and freestanding, including combination microwave ovens. Running but not heating is the classic, and it is a repair, not a write-off.
Faults we see most often
If yours is doing one of these, we have almost certainly fixed it before.
Runs but does not heat
The magnetron, diode, capacitor or transformer. On a built-in or combination model this is well worth repairing.
Turntable not turning
A failed turntable motor or a broken coupler. One of the least expensive repairs we do.
Sparking or arcing inside
Usually a burnt waveguide cover or food residue that has carbonised. Stop using it and call us — this one gets worse.
Door not latching
The door switches and latch are a safety interlock. A microwave will refuse to run rather than operate with a door that may not be shut.
Display or keypad dead
A failed control board or membrane keypad, or a blown internal fuse behind it.
Combination oven not grilling or fanning
The grill element or fan motor on a combination model, separate from the microwave function itself.
What to expect
A freestanding microwave is sometimes cheaper to replace than to repair, and we will say so plainly. A built-in or combination model is a different matter: replacing one means matching the housing, so a repair is very often the sensible answer.
Microwaves store a lethal charge in the high-voltage capacitor even when unplugged. This is genuinely not a do-it-yourself appliance, and it is not one to open out of curiosity.
